How can I keep track of belongings when several people are helping?
Use one working item list. For each item or box, record a clear label, the room it came from and its agreed destination. Record changes instead of relying on separate text messages. The item list supports decisions about custody and cost. It does not guarantee that an item can be restored or that an insurer will pay.
What to establish first
Use photos and records already available until the site is released for entry. Start with what matters to your household. List key papers, work tools and keepsakes. Keep goods that are easy to replace in their own group. The purpose is to set priorities for a review, not to send someone into an unsafe room for valuables.
If relatives, a landlord or another company have moved items, record who moved them, when and where they went. Mark uncertain locations plainly. A list that separates known movements from guesses is more useful than a complete-looking item list whose room and ownership details cannot be checked.
Agree the cleanup scope
Ask the contents plan to separate inspection, cleaning, packing, transport, storage and return. Confirm what happens to an item that is checked as unsuitable for cleaning and who must approve disposal. Get a written estimate before you approve specialist work. Check what you would owe if insurance does not pay.
For a disputed item, ask for its condition, planned treatment and limits to be recorded before work starts. An appliance, photo and upholstered chair should not be treated as interchangeable pieces. Do not switch on a fire-affected appliance simply to prove it still works. Get a qualified safety check first.
- How are item numbers matched to photos and boxes?
- Which fees continue while items are in storage?
- Who signs off on disposal and return condition?
Local checks and the next decision
A contents collection in St. Lucie Village may occur alongside building work permitted by the Village. Other north mainland properties may use the city or county. Keep the item list apart from the building-repair contract. If the repair company changes, you still need to know who holds each item.
For your call, have the street address, approved contact and rough categories of affected belongings ready. Tell us if an item has already been moved off site or treated. Do not send insurance credentials, identity documents or a full private item list through an unrelated channel. First agree how the company in charge will handle the record.
